Bharatpur City
Bharatpur is a city in Rajasthan state of India. It was founded by Maharaja Suraj Mal in 1733. Located in Mewat region,
Bharatpur was once an impregnable, well-fortified city, and the capital of a kingdom ruled by Jat maharajas. The trio of
Bharatpur, Deeg and Dholpur has played an important part in the Jat history of Rajasthan. Located 50 km west of the city of
Agra (the city of the Taj Mahal), it is also the administrative headquarters of Bharatpur District.
Bharatpur is well known as iron city due to boldness of its Kings and local peoples. it is well connected to other part of
the country either by Rail or Road.
Bharatpur District is a district of Rajasthan state in western India. The town of Bharatpur is the district headquarters. The
district has an area of 5,066 km². It is bounded by Rewari and Gurgaon districts of Haryana on the north, Mathura and Agra
districts of Uttar Pradesh on the east, and the Rajasthan districts of Dholpur on the south, Karauli on the southwest, and
Dausa and Alwar on the west.
Three rivers, the Ban Ganga, Rooparel, and Gambhir, cross the district. The Ban Ganga originates in Jaipur District, passes
through Dausa and Bharatpur districts to meet the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh. The Gambhir River starts from Pachana Dam of
Karauli District, and meets the Ban Ganga in Bayana tehsil. The Rooparel River starts from hills of Alwar District and enters
the district in Kaman tehsil.
Bhratpur is also world famous for its Keoladeo Bird's Sanctuary where rare Siberian cranes immigrate
during winter period from as far as Russian territorries.A paradise for the avian world, and the
pilgrimage for the bird lovers, it was known as the best
duck shooting resort in the British empire. But was declared a reserve for birds in 1956 and later
upgraded to National Park. UNESCO has listed it as a world heritage site.

Nearest airport is located appx. 55 km away in the city of called Agra. Jaipur air port is about 200 kms away and 5 hrs
drive by a taxi.Nearest International port is Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi which is about 250 kms from
the city.
Railway Network
The Indian Railways connect Bharatpur with all the major cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Agra. The Bharatpur
railway station is 6-kms from the city centre.there are severel express trains from and towards Mumbai and New Delhi.
Road
An excellent road network links Bharatpur to all the major cities of the Rajasthan and its neighbouring states like
Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana. Bharatpur is easily accessible by road from Agra (56-kms), Delhi (176-kms) and Jaipur (176-kms).

Climate
During summers (April. June), the temperature ranges from 38°C to 45°C. The onset of monsoon (July. August) lowers the temperature to about 27°C. Winter (October. March) season peaks after Christmas with temperatures falling below 10°C. Ground fog in the winter persists rather erratically on unspecified periods in January.
